On a warm afternoon in Brooklyn, Kate and Matt's closest friends and family celebrated canal-side at 501 Union. Guests were assigned their seat by gold painted miniature robots made by Kate herself. Hedgerow florals created a custom garden backdrop and signature couture bracelets for flower girls. Red Table Catering provided southern inspired bites and the bar at 501 provided custom cocktails. The hits kept coming thanks to DJ Kenan and folks walked with a small batch infused olive oil as thank you takeaway made by the bride.

In early May I had the pleasure of returning to work along side amazing planners, vendors, and creatives to bring to life a wondrous start to Summer; a magical afternoon into evening of inspiring words, exotic drinks and 3 floors (plus a garden) of some of the most fabulous people in New York City. My final wedding of the season was such a lovely way to end the year. Julia and Tanner had my smallest wedding to date. A crew small enough to squeeze into a taxi joined them on a crisp fall day on a small wooden gazebo facing the Prospect Park Boat House. Even a wedding of this size deserves some heart warming details. Piping hot cider, blankets for cuddling, bespoke floral arrangements and a Cello player brought this ceremony to life. Dinner at The Good Fork in Red Hook after with only a handful more of their favorite people and married life was off to a lovely and simple start. florals and design by douglas calhoun eventsThrilled to be working with Zillow.com Blog on a series of DIY, entertaining, and home design tips. Below is the first of many. Share these table-top tips and hit me up with any great ideas you have so I cans share them! Alison and Brian had a vision. A vision to get married in their favorite park and then to party-down on a boat. They came, they saw and they truly conquered. The couple gathered with friends at The Central Park Conservatory Garden and rocked gold shades. After tieing the knot they shuttled to World Yacht at Pier 81 and hopped aboard The Duchess. These two were amazing and just as stunning as the city views taken in by guests at their one-of-a-kind celebration. pictures by Erin Baiano
Jordan and Whit had a vision of a one-of-a-kind house party style wedding with nods to Wes Anderson. Waterfront Red Hook's Atelier Roquette was a perfect white canvas for the Royal Tenenbaum-style brownstone furniture and taxidermy we brought in from Patina Rentals. Nautical accents like rope, glass buoy, and captains wheel injected the right amount of Life Aquatic Zissou energy. Cocktails by Fort Defiance, bites by Lot 2, and florals by Monica at Atelier came together better than I could have imagined. An MVS photo-booth and custom digital touches by the groom brought home this unique party. It was a magical moment of local biz owners coming together for their favorite regulars. photo credit: Kristen Blush
In early May I had the pleasure of working along side amazing planners, vendors, and creatives to bring to life a wondrous start to Summer; a magical afternoon into evening of inspiring words, exotic drinks and 3 floors (plus a garden) of some of the most fabulous people in New York City. Mary Cleaver of The Cleaver Co. along side Dry Dock, Wine Dog, and the event's largest sponsor Bacardi kept pigs roasting and glasses full. Patina Rental and Saipua helped to fill every space with giant branch arrangements, cacti, and perfect places to perch and explore.
It was a dream to work on and a huge success! Had the pleasure of creating a simple and charmed baby shower for my twin sister. She and her husband are expecting their first baby, a little girl! I joined forces with old friends and family and we put together a vibrantly colorful Easter weekend cloud themed shower. Sliders, Planters Punch (Garden and Gun Recipe), and blush onesies aplenty made the day! Custom Baby Quiz by yours truly and an Etsy haul by Geneva made the event even more festive and belly laughs were had by all. Featured vendors: Susty Party (table wear), Minted (invite) and Ruby Love Baby (baby book) - Big thanks: Geneva Baxley, Annalee Jewell and Wanda Jewell (y'all are the best!)
